Water damage is very tricky. It’s not just if the laptop will power on or not. It’s if it has harmed the internal parts like battery and other chips. Even the couple of drops can rust the logic board short out components or can result in hidden failures weeks later damage is most common and one of the toughest fixes and luckily is the specialty of our shop.

Common Issues:
First, with water chips are the most common casualties. Water may fry out the board and destroy chips. It may cause corrosion or have mineral depositions. Moreover, the battery and keyboard are the most to fail first.

Our services
At Mac Tech Service, for such problems we initially try to dry and clean the water so that it doesn’t do any further damage. We examine the board and check if it has any bunt traces or oxidized pins or crushed chips. If a bord has components of shorter lengths, we also perform
micro soldering. After we clean it, we reassemble the MacBook and do a thorough test like thermal test battery health to SSD performance to make sure it does not annoy you anymore. Water damage is unpredictable. Sometimes it seems fine today and then crashes tomorrow. If we catch it early enough, we are generally able to salvage the board and your documents.

      Commonly Asked Questions

  1. Can you fix a MacBook that doesn’t turn on after a spill?
Yes. We are highly proficient in board-level recovery. In fact, even when a device is totally silent, we are usually able to bring it back to life by fixing the areas shorted due to the spill or by
changing the chips that have been damaged.

  2. Is data recovery possible after water damage?
Most of the time it is possible. We can do the data recovery on the SSD or storage chip if they are still intact even though the rest of the MacBook might be completely dead.

  3. How long does water damage repair take?
It is usually 3-5 working days. This may be longer if the case is severely damaged or parts are rarely stocked.

  4. Will everything work like new after repair?
We do not guarantee new condition after repair but strive to restore defect-free device operation. Unfortunately, water damage may also cause some latent problems that are not yet apparent. Additionally, we will notify you if any of the components are still endangered.

  5. Do you replace the entire logic board?
It really depends upon the amount of damage.

  6. Is there a warranty on water damage repairs?
We offer limited warranties on components that have been replaced. We are not in a position to assure the performance of the parts that have not been replaced for a long time since they have been exposed to liquid.

  7. What if Apple already said it’s unrepairable?
Those devices considered “non-serviceable” by Apple are the ones we usually come back with repairs. The scope of our board-level diagnostics is wider than what is usually done at a retail repair counter.
